The Samsung Galaxy S8 Android Oreo update is imminent and those of you with a Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ or Galaxy S8 Active should be excited about its release.

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo beta is closed and the company is hoping to produce the official version of the upgrade in the near future. Samsung is pushing for a release in January though an official release date remains unconfirmed.

The Galaxy S8 will be the first line of Galaxy devices to get upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo though we expect the Galaxy Note 8 Android Oreo update to emerge shortly after it arrives.

It’s a huge upgrade for Samsung’s Galaxy S8 models and it includes a mix of new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and security enhancements.

We already know quite a bit about the Galaxy S8 Android Oreo update thanks to Samsung’s beta. The beta, which ended January 17th in most regions, gave Galaxy S8 users the change to try the firmware ahead of time. With the beta closed, a third-party Android Oreo leak is the only way to download the software ahead of time.

The Galaxy S8 Android Oreo update has some exciting features on board and today we want to highlight a few of our favorites from the beta.

We also want to share a few things that have the potential to disappoint some Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy S8 Active users.

If you're dealing with Android 7.0 Nougat problems on your Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, or Galaxy S8 Active, you should start getting excited about the Android Oreo update. It could cure what's ailing your device.

We expect Samsung and its carrier partners to include bug fixes and several key enhancements in the official Android 8.0 Oreo update for Galaxy S8 devices.

The Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo update should bring improved speed and security for Samsung Pay, support for high quality audio codecs like AAC and Sony LDAC, and improvements to Find My Mobile and Samsung DeX.

And while they sometimes go unlisted in the change log, major Android updates have been known to iron out performance issues like severe battery drain, broken Wi-Fi connectivity, and busted Bluetooth.

Samsung's Galaxy S8 Android Oreo update could also fix UI lag issues, random reboots, lockups and freezes, and various issues with first-party applications (assuming you've downloaded the latest version of the app).

If you're struggling on Android Nougat, Android Oreo has a chance to make things better for you and your device.

A recent poll conducted by SamMobile shows many Galaxy S8 Oreo beta testers are having an excellent experience on Android 8.0. We've heard similar feedback from Galaxy S8 Oreo beta users.
